UNIVERSITY of TENNESSEE GARDENS

On Sat., June 28, U.T. held it's first BLOOMS DAYS Garden Festival and Marketplace at their garden site in Knoxville on Neyland Drive. The gardens were beautiful, and adorned with sculpture and artwork from the School of Art. There were about a dozen craft booths with various garden-related crafts, including birdhouses, garden ornaments of copper and stone, windchimes, and plants of many kinds. There was also musical entertainment on the grounds and seminars in the newly-built classrooms throughout the day. Admission was $8.00 and refreshments were available at a nominal fee. It was very well attended and I expect it will be a yearly event.

Beds of geraniums in shades of red, pink, and white made an attractive tableau.

This patch of beebalm in pink and purple was just one of many. There was also an experimental beebalm project, fenced off and closed to the public.

This bed of blue and yellow wildflowers was very pleasing to the eye. Brick paths made walking through the gardens a pleasure.

This sunflower house was made with children in mind. The inside was filled with toys and welcomed all who would enter.
